Rail Road
I will never immediately reject the prospect of a rail road. Civic projects like the arena in Manchester turned the city around. Elm Street is now walkable, vibrant with restaurants, shopping, and hangouts all thanks to the arena. The baseball stadium is a great addition as well. Businesses in the mills are buzzing and the future of Manchester is key to attracking young talent to the state and keeping our demographics healthy.
I see no reason to dismiss the same economic potential a new rail road can bring to a city. The question with railroads always becomes the cost.
As of now I have not reviewed a satisfactory proposal for building and maintaining a commuter rail road. But I will always approach the question of a rail road with optimism. If a proposal for re-furbishing and running our rail road assets makes economic sense then I will be all for it. Until then the work is not done.
